Raptor Run
Help the raptor escape a facility by running, jumping and chomping the evil humans that are keeping you captive!

Controller Support?
Yes, the game can be played with a controller! I wasn't able to add this info into the game in time for the jam deadline - Sorry! If you're using an Xbox controller, here is the mapping (the mapping should mirror on other controllers as well):
About
This is my submission for the "My First Game Jam" game jam. The theme was "Free" and I decided to make a game about a dinosaur breaking out after being captured! While the raptor can chomp those humans with his mighty teeth, It's a good idea to lay low and make sure you get the drop on them or you'll be caught!

A stealth game, a stealth game! This was a fun one, for sure. The mechanics were introduced well and the variations on the room maps are definitely something I can imagine being expanded upon. (The last level was immensely satisfying, due to the more finicky jumping bits to avoid vision circles. It wouldn't have been as satisfying if I didn't have to work to get there, you know?) Compared to the great raptor sprite the humans look a little weird, but it made them stand out against the background. Great job!
I know, that human sprite will be one of the first things I update when I go in and expand the game. You know how it goes with these jams, only so much time! Thanks for playing!
Great job, enjoyed playing this. Played with keyboard. I like how you introduced the mechanics with the first few levels. Love the raptor sprite, think the vision circle of the humans could be improved - maybe a cone shape would make more sense? I like the crate mechanic but didn't feel like I needed to use it much in the current levels.
My first play through time was 2:33.
Thanks for playing! I plan to maybe expand this one in the future with more enemies types and I will probably change the way the line of sight works with them too. A few other people mentioned the crate issue as well, so I'll look into it!
You... made... a... stealth... game?!?
Seriously, great work for your first game. The Raptor is a great design. I think you should refine it with updated humans, more sounds and some other options in the menu: maybe a restart to reset the clock, arcade-style high scores or simple stuff like that. Great first effort!
I played this with a USB 8bitdo controller and it works perfectly FYI.
Ha, yes I did! I wanted to try my hand at making one that I thought was fun. Glad to hear the8bitdo worked with it!
I would love to jump back into it and add better looking humans, a variety of human types that do different things and a bunch of other little things. Thanks man!
Great work. I love the cute raptor and the sound effects. And I agree it had a very speedrun vibe, which was cool. Thought the humans could be a touch bigger, but otherwise awesome!
Thanks! I wanted some kind of small size difference between the raptor and the humans.
I also wanted to revisit the human sprite to make a more detailed one but I didn't have time during the jam. Maybe when/if I decide to expand it into a fuller game.
Cute little game, liked the look of the Raptor, but man do some of those guards have really bad eyesight. :)
🤣
Nice Work ! enjoyed the gameplay and the arts are simple and cute
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Really fun game. I liked that it had to timer and felt like I could speedrun the game.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks for playing! ;)
